1. Kronenbourg 1664 Lager
The topic of this article is about the beer known as Blanc, specifically the Kronenbourg 1664 Lager. Although Kronenbourg is a French beer brand, it was found that its origin is Denmark. This is because it is produced by Carlsberg, which suggests it is made in Denmark.
The reason why Kronenbourg 1664 became famous is not because of the Lager, which is today’s topic, but because of its wheat beer, known as Blanc. It produces 40% of French beer.
It has a volume of 500ml and an alcohol content of 5.0%. The can has “Lager Beer, Biere Blonde” written on it. This product is a golden pale lager and it is said to use hops from the Alsace region.
2. Kronenbourg Story
1) Kronenbourg brewery
Kronenbourg In 1664, Jerome Hatt founded a small brewery called Le Canon in the Strasbourg area of France and began brewing beer. In 1850, the brewery moved to the relatively high ground of Croenenbourg (Croenebourg) area near the brewery due to the flooding of a river.
With the introduction of new technology at the time, bottom-fermentation beer was brewed. This required a large cave for storing and aging the beer at low temperatures. With the spread of railways in France, this beer was distributed nationwide, leading to significant growth.
It was later acquired by the Scottish & Newcastle group. In 2008, it was acquired by Carlsberg Group, the world’s fourth-largest brewery. In 2011, it was the first French brewery to receive the “Origine France Garantie” certification, guaranteeing French production.
2) Tasting Notes
The carbonation and foam are moderate. The color is a transparent golden hue, and the aroma of hops is present but not strong.
Drinking it, Kronenbourg 1664 Lager doesn’t seem special. It`s just a decent beer for casual drinking?
It’s clean with a moderate balance of sweetness and bitterness. The refreshing feeling isn’t particularly strong either. This led me to think it’s just a basic lager beer. It feels significantly lacking compared to the Blanc (wheat beer)

3. Overall Review
In conclusion, I want to say that it’s a lager beer with decent basics. There’s nothing special about it. The various sensations that beer offers, such as refreshment, sweetness, and bitterness, are not remarkable. I think it lacks impact.
Also, reviewing it, I noticed that it contains glucose syrup. This does not significantly contribute to sweetness, so it is presumably used to facilitate yeast fermentation.
However, it was still drinkable when cold. But compared to Blanc, its presence is too weak. Therefore, if I were to purchase Kronenbourg 1664, I would opt for the Blanc wheat beer version.
