Erdinger alkoholfrei(Non-Alcohol Beer)

1. Erdinger Alkoholfrei

This article focuses on Erdinger Alkoholfrei(Non-Alcohol Beer). Nowadays, many breweries produce various types of beer, including vegan, gluten-free, and alcohol-free options.

Erdinger Brewery in Germany offers a non-alcoholic beer made with wheat malt, as evident from the ingredients.

I haven’t seen Erdinger Alcohol-Free Beer in a can type yet (though I found it available for sale on a blog). The product I obtained is in a bottle format, featuring the Erdinger logo in the center along with “Weissbrau” and “ALKOHOLFREI,” which means alcohol-free in German.

2. Erdinger Story

1) Erdinger Brewery Story

Erdinger has its origins near Erding, Bavaria, Germany, where Erdinger beer is produced. It’s renowned for being the world’s largest wheat beer brewery.

It all started in 1886 at the Weißes Bräuhaus brewery founded by Johann Kienle. Through several acquisitions, Franz Brombach acquired the brewery, making it part of the Brombach family brewery.

By 1949, it was renamed Erdinger, and by 1970, it expanded into Austria. In 1983, a new brewery was constructed, which became the largest wheat beer brewery in the world.

One notable feature here is the process of secondary fermentation after the primary fermentation, where sugar and yeast are added to the bottled beer. This results in natural carbonation and creamy foam in Erdinger’s beer.

2) Tasting Notes

Erdinger Alkoholfrei has a clear golden hue, visually appealing. Upon sniffing, you can detect typical wheat beer aromas and a hint of banana. The foam rises well but doesn’t retain for long. Based on aroma alone, it’s challenging to differentiate from regular wheat beer.

In terms of taste, you’ll experience flavors akin to Erdinger Weissbier, albeit with some shortcomings. Comparing it directly with regular beer, there’s a noticeable gap. Nonetheless, the smooth carbonation and nutty flavor are enjoyable.

However, the finish and flavor leave much to be desired. The finish is short, lacking complexity beyond the nuttiness. Nevertheless, it’s a decent alcohol-free beer suitable for drinking.

3. Overall Review

In conclusion, Erdinger Alkoholfrei(Non-Alkohol) is a decent option for non-alcoholic beer drinkers. However, it lacks the robust flavor profile typical of regular beer. Given its low alcohol content (less than 1%), it’s suitable for situations where alcohol consumption is restricted. It would be a good choice to share with someone avoiding alcohol. Personally, I wouldn’t repurchase it for personal consumption.
